Friday, November 11, 2005: My poor journal has been sadly neglected lately! Since April, I have moved back to Vancouver, bought a condo, visited Mexico, and got two new jobs! I work four days a week at the Stanley Park Ecology Society as an Environmental Educator. I also work as a substitute teacher for the Vancouver School Board on Mondays. I'm very happy to be back in Vancouver!
Saturday, April 30, 2005: Another kid story: Yesterday, I noticed that one of my students (a usually happy child) was looking a little down. I asked, "How are you feeling?" and he said he was good, but with a sad face. "Are you feeling blue?" I asked? He then carefully studied one hand and then the other (checking for colour) and determined that he wasn't feeling blue. Made my day!
Wednesday, March 16, 2005: Today I asked two students about the story they were acting out and they told me they were killing the "bad guys" who were cutting down trees. I said that was a pretty drastic way of solving the problem and they replied that it was the easiest thing to do. I asked them if there was another way they could have dealt with these bad guys, and they said they could send giant, remote-controlled robots after them. Gotta love their peaceful conflict resolution skills!
Friday, February 18, 2005: Today was a Pro-D day (which is a whole different prospect when you're a teacher) and I had fun at a conference. It was great to meet other teachers and get new ideas for teaching! I came across some cool books for kids, and I think I'll have to take a trip to Munro's this weekend to get myself a copy of "Imagine a Day".

Saturday, November 20, 2004: Happy 5th birthday, Abbey! It's been a week full of family events, the result of living in Victoria! We had dinner at Mom & Dad's in Metchosin on Friday, had tea with Mommo and Catho on Saturday after running into them on the street downtown, had dinner with the entire Broadland crew on Sunday after packing up the Heartwood booth at the Pearkes craft fair, had Thai food with Dave and Leslie on Tuesday, and saw the One Man Lord of the Rings show with Mom, Dad and Kristi on Wednesday!

Sunday, October 3, 2004: On October 2nd, 2004, I had the honour of being a bridesmaid in my dear friend Trisha's wedding to her dear friend Erik. It was an unforgettable occasion and I'm so happy for them! Our fabulous friend, Janet, was in Japan during the wedding, but we know she was with us in spirit. When "Walk Like an Egyptian" came on, all we could think of was Janet's unique interpretation of that classic Bangles hit!
Monday, August 9, 2004: We had a smashing time at Kristi's Tacky Birthday Party in Metchosin! I've heard that Janet is actively browsing this site, so I'm attempting to learn Linux in order to download the camera images so I can post a few on my webpage.
Tuesday, August 3, 2004: Back at school after the BC Day long weekend spent up at Shuswap Lake with the Fuocos. We had a TACT wrap-up today and it's weird to think I'm almost done my degree! I've been networking and trying to learn about interesting opportunities for the fall.
Saturday, July 31, 2004: Have I ever neglected my journal this year! I've been so busy with school work and my practicum that my webpage has been left to grow weeds. However, after visiting Trish & Erik's wedding webpage today, I've been inspired to update my quilting page with three new photos.
In other news, I'm two weeks away from finishing my Bachelor of Education program and being a certified teacher in BC! The issue is that I have no idea what I'll be doing in the fall. I'd really love to find a way of combining my interests in teaching and the environment. I'd also like to get paid for the work I do. Hmmm....
Sunday, February 15, 2004: Melissa and Emmy arrived in Vancouver early this morning (12:30am) and Kristi, Mom and Dad came to pick them up. We're so happy to have everyone together! Kristi encouraged me to update my quilting page, so I finally put up photos of the quilt I gave her in June.
